Weekly Weigh in — starting point

Filed under: fitness, keeping it real, weigh in — karena @ 11:44 am

So, today it begins. I searched down the 30 Day Shred DVD, went shopping for some healthy eats, and stepped gingerly onto the scale.

167.5

Not as bad as I was expecting, but nowhere near where I should be as a not-quite 5’3″, small-framed person. That gives me a BMI of 29.7. Other measurements will have to wait until I find my measuring tape — I think it’s running in fear. I’m not really sure where I ought to be, but my guess is somewhere in the 120-130 range. Ugghh. So over 30 pounds away. Seems as if it might as well be 100.

But I’m not going to let that drag me down. For now I’m concentrating on the next 30 days. My goal isn’t a number on the scale (although a five pound drop over thirty days sounds both reasonable and rewarding, don’t you think) but a healthier, stronger body.

On a side note, I just finished my first shred about half an hour ago. It both sucked and was amazing all at the same time. Obviously, I started with level one and followed … Anita, I think? The easier one, anyway. Just when I thought I couldn’t continue something for another ten seconds, Jillian would move on to something else. I’m hoping to see some good, steady progress and hopefully be able to move up to the full moves in a couple weeks.
