Queen Half-Pound

Filed under: keeping it real, weigh in — karena @ 1:09 pm

The great news: I have adiosed my size 14s from the closet, never to be worn again! I’m back in my size 12s, and feeling much better now that I don’t look like the saggy-baggy elephant every time I get dressed..

The good news: I ate well all week and didn’t touch a single glass of wine. You don’t know the dedication that took, believe me!

The bad news: it’s been in the 80s here, and horribly muggy, so I’ve been doing really poorly at getting my exercise in. I know 80s is nothing to many of you, but here in Belgium it’s really something we’re just not used to. Oh, and I know no one with A/C. So a pretty bad job on the exercise this week.

The meh news: I lost another half pound, putting my weight now at 163.0. I had really hoped that by cutting out my nightly wine(s) I’d see a better result. I think the lack of exercise cost me what I might otherwise have seen.

I am dubbing myself the Queen of the Half-Pound Loss. Every week, half a pound. Let’s see, I’ve got about thirty more pounds I want to lose. That means that by NEXT September I should be looking great.

  2. Oh I know the dedication it takes NOT to have that nightly drink. I would die for the weather to be in the 80’s here- that sounds like Winter to me, ha ha. Oh yeah, before I forget:

CONGRATS on saying Bye Bye to the size 14’s. Doesn’t it feel great? I hope to be to that place very soon.

I have flown out of Belgium once and had one dinner there but have not toured the country. This pre-kids. NOw, with 3 little ones, I probably won’t see the likes of Europe for A LONG TIME!

  3. And hey, if it takes you to next September AT LEAST YOU’RE NOT GIVING UP!!

Take the loss and run with it! Congrats, Karena!

  4. I’m impressed with giving up the wine. Good for you! That takes SERIOUS dedication!
And slow and steady wins the race, and the scale is definitely headed in the right direction!

  5. Half pound here, half pound there…not too bad since the exercising has been hard to deal with without a/c. I’m glad I don’t have to live with out ac or showers!! You will get there..once the weather cools abit you’ll do better. Way to go with the “no wine”! Those extra calories will start counting soon!

  7. Giving up wine was a hard one for me too, until I started consistently exercising…then it didn’t taste as good. But I totally understand the heat factor. I have such a hard time exercising if I’m already hot. Can you try to do it in the morning before it gets too hot? Or does your schedule not allow that? I’m not a morning person at all, but I’m contemplating trying to get up and get my run in in the morning…not sure how successful that will be. But really losing little step by little step is still losing and it all adds up over time. Just keep on keeping on!

  8. Thanks for all the positive comments. My spirits are still up, never fear.

Ann — the bath is in and usable now, so it’s not as bad as it was. The shower is installed, but no door for a few weeks. I’m going to love it once it’s finally in!

Girlsworld — every couple of months I have aspirations of early morning exercise. I do it for a day or two, but then can’t seem to make it a habit. It’s a good suggestion, though. I’ve got to crack down a little harder and just do it, I suppose!
